Greenwood Commonwealth - News - 09/09/2005 - Beauvoir: "On Mississippi's coast, it is estimated up to 300 historical buildings were lost and close to 900 were damaged, according to P'Pool.
Confederate President Jefferson Davis' home in Biloxi, Beauvoir, lost precious archived documents from its presidential library. After the storm devastated Biloxi, museum workers waded through debris to secure the home, P'Pool said. Outside of the home the workers erected a handwritten sign that read: 'Half-time score: Hurricane Katrina 1, Beauvoir 0. But the game's not over yet.'
P'Pool said it's heartbreaking to know that some of the structures will never be recovered, but, 'with that kind of spirit, we'll see the coast revitalized.' "
